Before applying to Devizes Sixth Form and selecting your chosen A-Level subjects, please ensure you meet the following requirements:
Art and Design | Grade 5 in GCSE Art |
Biology | A minimum of 6,6 in Science and Grade 6 in Mathematics and English at GCSE. Students with a high grade 5 Maths GCSE will be considered on an individual basis. |
Business Studies | Grade 4 in English and Maths |
Chemistry | Grade 6,6 in Science. Grade 6 in Mathematics. Students with a high grade 5 Maths GCSE will be considered on an individual basis. |
English Language | Grade 5 in GCSE English or English Literature. |
English Literature | Grade 5 in GCSE English Literature and GCSE English Language. |
Food Science and Nutrition | Grade 5 or Merit in GCSE Hospitality or L2 Food and Nutrition. Grade 5 in Science and Maths, but high Grade 4 will be considered. Grade 4 in English. |
Further Mathematics | Grade 7 or above at GCSE. |
Further Mathematics | Grade 7 or above at GCSE. |
Geography | Grade 5 in GCSE Geography. In addition a Grade 4 in Maths is required. |
Graphic Communication | "Level 5+ in any GCSE Art based subject or GCSE Product Design, Level 5+ in GCSE English desirable |
Health & Social Care (single and double) | Grade 4 in GCSE English, with a 5 in Science. |
History | Grade 5 in GCSE History |
IT | Grade 4 in English & Maths. A prior knowledge or study of IT at Level 2 is not essential, but if you have studied IT you should have achieved a Level 2. |
Mathematics | Grade 6 at GCSE Mathematics, although Grade 7 is much more realistic for students seeking the highest grades. |
Media Studies | Grade 5 in English Language or English Literature. Students with high grade 4's would be considered, on the recommendation of their GCSE English teacher. |
Performing Arts (Drama) | BTEC Level 2 Merit or GCSE 4 in Drama/Dance/Music |
Performing Arts (Dance) | BTEC Level 2 Merit or GCSE 4 in Drama/Dance/Music |
Performing Arts (Music) | BTEC Level 2 Merit or GCSE 4 in Drama/Dance/Music |
Physical Education (AS & A2) | Grade 4 in GCSE English and Maths. Grade 5 in GCSE PE. Students must be regularly participating in at least one sporting activity. Students without GCSE PE will be considered on an individual basis |
Physics | 6,6 in GCSE Science and a Grade 6 in GCSE Mathematics. Students with a high grade 5 Maths GCSE will be considered on an individual basis. |
Psychology | Grade 5 in English Language and Maths, with a 5 grade in Science. (A high grade 4 would be considered on an individual basis in one of English or Maths). |
Religious Studies | Grade 5 in GCSE Religious Studies, full or short course. |
