Results Released for Sixth Form Students

2019 brings yet another good year of A-level results for sixth form students at Devizes School. We have persistently achieved strong levels of performance and this year is no different, with 70% of students achieving one or more grades at A*-C and an overall pass rate of over 98%. There is a positive vibe around the school today, with both staff and students proud of the outcomes achieved.

Overall, we are very pleased with the school headline figures. One particular success is an 8% increase in students achieving one or more top grades (A*-B). This means that 50% of students are now achieving at this highest standard — a record for Devizes School. We are also equally pleased with the brilliant results in our applied and vocational courses, where we have recorded our highest value added for a number of years.

The students at our sixth form make a two-year commitment of hard work and sacrifice. Students have not only achieved academic success, but also grown as young adults over the past two years. We always tell our students in Devizes Sixth Form to “expect more, get more, and be more”, and we can certainly see this today.

Phil Bevan, Principal, said: “We are so proud of each and every one of them, as they have worked so hard for these results. We are delighted to be sending out into the world such well-rounded and well-qualified young people.”

There are always individual personal stories behind every set of results, and we are delighted that these fantastic results have ensured that most of our students have now secured places on their chosen courses and at their desired universities. Some of our high-performing students include:

Emma Bogert

3 A*s in chemistry, biology, and maths. Accepted into Oxford University to study medicine.

We have a strong, proven track record of sixth form success at Devizes School, and this has continued this year under the expert and vibrant leadership of our Head of Sixth Form, Clare Dale. We would like to thank Clare for her inspirational leadership over the past 12 months and all the staff who have worked so hard to make this such a successful day for our students.

As our sixth form enters a very exciting future in collaboration with Lavington School, we are very confident that together we will reach even greater heights and ensure students can “be more” after a full and exciting sixth form experience. We wish all our students every success in the next exciting part of their journey through life. The future really is bright.
