A strong, collaborative relationship between a school and its local community is essential to their joint success. When both school and community work together toward the betterment of the town and the lives of the children and families who live there, a powerful partnership is formed.
At Devizes School, we value our close relationship with the Devizes community, which we are extremely proud to serve and contribute to. This pride is shared by The White Horse Federation, the multi-academy trust we are a part of.
We want the very best for our community and the wonderful people in it. Devizes School is committed to inspiring those in the area for their future through first-class teaching and a vibrant, innovative, and supportive environment where there are:
- More opportunities to extend services that support the Devizes community beyond school hours, on weekends, and during school holidays.
- More opportunities to improve the day-to-day environment for all visitors.
- More facilities that empower our community to follow their sporting and creative interests, and develop their skills.
To this end, we have been working closely with The White Horse Federation exploring ways to make this environment a reality. One challenge we have faced is securing the funding to provide more facilities, extend services, and increase opportunities to improve the day-to-day environment.
In researching possible solutions, we identified an area of unused land on the school property that was costing us money in maintenance and upkeep despite offering no value to the school.
Last week, you may have received a consultation notice requesting your opinion on our proposal to sell this area of unused land. The money made from the sale will be invested, in its entirety, in the school, allowing us to offer increased support for our community and those within it.
Although the proposal is in its early stages, we are excited at the opportunities that lie ahead for the Devizes community should this funding become available to us.
If you would like to submit your opinion on the proposal, please visit our website.
