Introduction to Faculty
The CAPA Faculty at Devizes School has the aim of exploring creativity in a supportive, stimulating and professional environment. All students will have the opportunity to express themselves creatively through five appropriately connected disciplines motivated by talented practitioners. The faculty provides sources of inspiration through good to outstanding lessons, educational trips, practitioner visits, extra-curricular activities and links with the professional arts world. We want students to be aware of the extended pathways after Devizes School and be clear on career opportunities our subject areas can offer.
Our job is to encourage creativity within our students; this skill can then be transferred to other subject areas, which can help them unlock their potential.
The national curriculum is made up of a number of subjects, each of which is split into separate topics.
Extracurricular Opportunities
We feel that trips and extra curricular activities are a vital part of bringing alive the curriculum. We offer a range of clubs after school for Drama, Dance, Art & Music. We stage an annual School Production which is well known for breaking audience's expectations of a school show, previous shows include 'We Will Rock You', 'Billy Elliot' and 'Hairspray'. We hold an annual art exhibition that showcases the amazing range of work created in Art and Photography, we have 2 Dance shows a year with ever-increasing production values and a Young Musician of the Year competition. We have also recently added the CAPA Awards Evening, which is a formal event that celebrates the achievements of our young creative minds.
