King

marting luther king King House is named after Martin Luther King who is perhaps most famous for delivering his "I Have a Dream" speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial to a crowd estimated at 250,000 on August 28, 1963, after meeting with President John F. Kennedy. As a House we acknowledge the work and campaigning Martin Luther King did for gain equality for all people and his peaceful methods. We use some of his quotes to help us focus as we continue on our personal journeys such as “There is within human nature an amazing potential for goodness” and “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy”.

Our House Motto – Big Dream Big Future created and chosen by students within King House refers to the vision we desire of all our members to think about what they wish to achieve in their futures and the path they will take to achieve their goals.

This year as we build on our vision we are also incorporating the 2012 London Olympic aim of “inspiring a generation”.
