OCR/H069/H469
AIMS

This course aims to encourage candidates to ask questions – how do children acquire language?  When?  How do some texts and speakers wield power?  Why and how do we alter conversational strategies according to who we are speaking to? – and learn some answers. They should also deepen their interest and enjoyment of English as they study a varied programme of concepts and develop their skills as producers and interpreters of language.

ASSESSMENT
There is a 2 hour written exam paper for F651 in which students will answer two questions, one on each topic area in response to data – probably transcripts.
F653 is also assessed by a 2 hour written exam in which students will have to answer on Language and Speech but will then have a choice from the other sections of a second question to answer.
F652 is a coursework folder comprising of 2 tasks which will be assessed internally then moderated by the Exam Board.
F654 is a coursework folder comprising of 2 tasks which will be also be assessed internally then moderated by the exam board.
Regular homeworks and assessed practice pieces will prepare students for the exams.
