DRAMA HEADLINES
Unit 1: Last 2 years we have achieved 50% A grade for this module Unit 3: 77% A grade 0ver 250 places made available for theatre trips ranging from Salisbury to Southampton, to Portsmouth and of course to the West End in London. A very successful drama production of ‘DNA’, ’Breathing Corpses’ and ‘Hairspray’.

COURSE CONTENT

The course provides the opportunity to explore theatre from a performer’s, practitioner’s and designer’s perspective.
‘AS’ Level: Unit 1: Exploration of Drama and Theatre
  Unit 2: Theatre Text in Performance
‘A2’ Level: Unit 3: Exploration of Dramatic Performance
  Unit 4: Theatre Text in Context

TEACHING
The lessons will explore ideas practically.  You may have the opportunity to work with professionals and see live theatre.  The emphasis lies in creating positive group dynamics within a teamwork approach.  The decisions of the group and individual are important in this subject.

ASSESSMENT

Unit 1. Practical and written exploration of two plays. Visit a theatre performance/analysis. (20%)
Unit 2. Practical performance/design. Including monologue or duologue. (30%)
Unit 3. The creation of a group presentation as actor/designer. This includes a detailed written assessment. (22.5%)
Unit 4. A 2½ hour written paper based on
  a) set text
  b) a live performance. (27.5%)

THE REQUIREMENTS
Enthusiasm for the subject is essential. The willingness and commitment to rehearse and develop ideas outside the lesson is vital. A*-C in Drama GCSE is recommended but not essential. A*-C in GCSE in English needed
