Our school will be running a project called ‘Active in Mind’ over the next few terms to support students who may be struggling with the pressures of school life.
On Wednesday 10th January we welcomed Athlete Mentor Thinus Delport as part of this project. Thinus has visited us on several occasions as part of the ‘Sky Living for Sport’ project and is well known by both students and staff. This week Thinus worked initially with a group of Year 10 students in a practical PE lesson, he taught the value of working as a team which all enjoyed. Activities included skipping as a group which caused much hilarity! Later in the day 6th Form mentor training took place. A valuable lesson focusing on team building, confidence building, self-awareness and problem solving.
Thinus now retired and mentoring for the Youth Sport Trust is a former South African Rugby Union International. He began his English career playing for Gloucester in 2002.
We would like to thank him once again for his support and look forward to seeing him again in the future.
