Red ones, pink ones, stripy ones and ones with Camper vans! Students in Year 7 at Devizes School pulled on their wellies and went stomping around the field to do their bit to raise money for Farm Africa. As part of their introduction to Geography students have been learning about four countries in Africa; Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda where Farm Africa work to help farmers in poverty. During their Geography lessons they all walked at least a mile around the school fields in their wellies to raise sponsorship money for farmers and residents of these West African countries who are living in poverty. Students are doing an amazing job of raising funds for charity and really enjoyed a lesson out of the classroom. Luckily for all the weather was kind!
Year 7 are hoping to beat last year’s total raised which was an amazing £1300. Our Global Studies Faculty has supported this particular charity by ‘welly walking’ for the last 3 years. We also support Oxfam by water carrying during sports day in the summer.
