Pantomime season is almost upon us! Many of you will know that the Wyvern Theatre in Swindon are preparing to bring us Peter Pan, a swashbuckling pantomime adventure which begins on Saturday 2nd December. Once again Adam Woodyatt (aka Ian Beale of Eastenders) will star, this time as Captain Hook.
We are very pleased to say that Year 10 student Matthew Waters will also star alongside Adam, he will perform 26 times out of a total of 52 performances over the festive period. Matthew will play the role of lead Lost Boy ‘Slightly’, there will be 5 lost boys in total.
Rehearsals have already begun and Matthew is really looking forward to the experience. Auditions began way back in February. Sadly Matthew couldn’t attend his audition as he was on his Duke of Edinburgh weekend away. All was not lost however as at Easter he was invited along to a workshop in Oxford by the Producer who immediately gave him the part! His audition included learning a dance routine and singing ‘Happy Birthday’. Needless to say Matthew passed with flying colours.
This will be Matthew’s second time on stage at the Wyvern as he starred in ‘Cats’ with the Tanwood Youth Theatre two years ago.
Opening night for the show and for Matthew will be Saturday 2nd December and we are told many friends and family will be there to see his first performance.
Anyone wishing to go along to support Matthew will need to book tickets for a Tuesday, Thursday or a Saturday as he will be performing twice (matinee and evening performance) on each of these days between 2nd and 31st December. Book online at swindontheatres.co.uk, you can print your e tickets from home. Alternatively call the box office on 01793 524481.
Good luck Matthew, you are and have always been an absolute star of the stage while at Devizes School, we know you will be amazing!
