How to Keep In Touch about School Closures

Dear Parents/Carers

Due to recent snow forecasts, this is to advise you that in the event of extreme weather conditions or other emergency situations when it is necessary to close the school, a notice will be posted on the news page of the school website www.devizesschool.co.uk.   We will also notify local radio stations of any such closure.   Please be aware that the school will only close as a last resort when we consider that there is a risk to the safety of students attending the school site or, as many members of staff do not live in Devizes, we are unable to guarantee that sufficient members of staff are able to safely get to the school to carry out their duties.   If you do not hear the school’s name listed as closed on the radio, please assume that the school is open as usual. Decisions about school closure will be made on a daily basis and all updates will be placed on the school website and on Twitter.

When icy conditions are experienced, the site will be regularly gritted.   The priority will be to grit a route from the main entrance to the school and the quad area.   Please therefore remind your children to keep to the gritted route as far as possible and wear sensible shoes.

Thank you for your support with these arrangements.
