6th Form Student in Devizes to Westminster Race

Due to the ferocity of the conditions on the Thames over the Easter weekend the organisers had to curtail the Devizes to Westminster  Race at Reading a necessary but important call that had to be made in terms of safety of all crews.

Devizes 6th Form student Daniel and his partner Reeve (Reeve is at St John’s School) were flying and finished an amazing 5th place in the Junior Doubles (ahead of all the other local schools see the results http://results.dwrace.co.uk/results/2018/Results/SaturdayClassResults.html)

Over the two days they did nearly 55 miles and camped overnight at Newbury. They are a little deflated , tired and a disappointed that the race had to be stopped but very pleased with the fantastic result.

The important thing is that with gift aid they have raised nearly £1000 for the Royal British Legion we hope to get some matched funding from work that will take this to over £1300.

With thanks to Chris and Jenny Jones for these words.
